The Vietnamese government has approved to exempt Vietnam visa for citizens of 5 European countries consisting of Britain, France, Germany, Italy and Spain with the aim boosting tourism of Vietnam.
This policy takes effect from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2016. Accordingly, citizens of these 5 countries no longer need a visa to enter Vietnam from July 1 for stays of up to 15 days. It applies for both tourists and those travelling for business. But in case they enter Vietnam and leave, their next visit to Vietnam should be 30 days from their previous entry if they want to visit the country with visa exemption again. Otherwise, they will need to apply for Vietnam visa. A Vietnam visa is also highly recommended if citizens of such countries wish to stay in Vietnam for more than 15 days.
In case a Vietnam visa is required, citizens of such countries may have two options to obtain: applying for visa on arrival in case they travel to Vietnam by air or applying for visa at Vietnam Embassy.
Vietnam currently allows tourists to enter visa-free from Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Belarus, Russia, Japan and South Korea.
