Situated on the bank of Nhue River, just 15km to the west of Ha Noi, Van Phuc Silk village is well-known over centuries for its traditional weaving and premium quality silk products. It takes you only 30 minutes by motorbike to get there from the center of Hanoi. The village is considered the most ancient silk village which provides the best silk in Vietnam.
In ancient time, Van Phuc silk was used to make dress for royal members in dynasties. In the 1930s, products of Van Phuc were firstly on display in international exhibitions in Marseille. Van Phuc silk was quickly popular with silk-making and silk products exported to Eastern European market.
Tourists visiting the village are definitely enchanted by “silk shop town” where many families in Van Phuc open their own shops on the main road of the village selling eye-catching and high quality silk products. Silk products in Van Phuc are famous for its smooth and lightweight appearance, and qualities that enable it to be dyed more colors to suit a variety of skin tones.
Walking around the village, tourists seem to be lost in the world of silk with various products like shirts, ties, crafts, dresses.
