On April, 2016 tourists on Hanoi tour had a chance to enjoy a special art program under the motto of ‘Sac 16’ (Beauty 16). The showcase was organized on Dao Duy Tu Street, one of Ha Noi’s Old Quarter pedestrian streets.
In the showcase themed “Vietnamese culture lives on in the flat world”, there was the present of the traditional cultural values of Vietnamese people. Also, coming to this event, tourist could be able to admire a highly-anticipated ao dai show tooking place on the street. The show seized the attention of a number of well-known designers who owns admirable ao dai collections, including ‘Con cong’ (Peacock) by Miss and designer Ngoc Han, ‘Sac Hoa’ (Flower beauty) by designer Vo Trinh Hoai Nam, ‘Sen’ (Lotus) by Trinh Fashion and ‘Hoa Tuy Lip’ (Tulip) by designer Diego.
Along will the traditional ao dai show, Hanoi tours makers also gained the opportunities to absorb a traditional music space with performances by singer Pham Thi Hue from the Thang Long Ca Tru Club and the Thonart traditional music band.
Moreover, audiences also got the possibility to enjoy a calligraphy show performed by famous calligrapher Kieu Quoc Khanh. He showed talents on his writing on ao dai designed by Do Trinh Hoai Nam. What’s more, tourist could also enjoy a ceramic exhibition titled ‘Sen dem’ (Night Lotus) by artisan Tran Duc Tan from Bat Trang ceramic village.
It is believed that the program would strengthen the national pride and the love for traditional values, making it as a precursor to preservation and development of Vietnamese cultural identities. Also, the event is predicted to build a bridge between traditional and contemporary arts and contributing to diversifying cultural activities in the pedestrian streets.
