Contemplate gold books and other royal gold objects to gain insights into the history of the Nguyen Dynasty from March 31 at the Viet Nam National Museum of History in Ha Noi.
The museum said this is the first time people could get chances to explore as many as 21 gold books and 10 royal objects of the Nguyen Dynasty (1802 – 1945), which will be displayed in this event.
The books were made of such precious metals as gold or silver to record important royals events and rituals, such as coronation, enthronement, among others. They were compiled by the kings or high-level courtiers themselves.
Experts acknowledge that the first gold book, measuring 24.5 cm and 13.5 cm was made by King Gia Long for his father in 1806.
It consists of two thick cover pages and four thinner inside pages, which were subtly decorated with dragon-in-cloud patterns and weighed a total of 1.4 kg.
