Nghi Tam village, stretching along Nghi Tam street, adjacent famous streets such as Au Co, Xuan Dieu and Thanh Nien street, boasts one of the largest and famous flower villages in the capital of Hanoi.
Nghi Tam is famed nationwide for its traditional occupation of flower and bonsai growing. Historically, the traditional flower planting started in about 13th century when a villager bought saplings from a Chinese trader to plant in his village. Nowadays, the village is carpeted by blue, purple, yellow, pink and red of many kinds of flowers like peach blossom, daisy, violet, lily, especially the kumquat, peach.
Every year, just before Tet holiday, Nghi Tam village is filled with people from all over Hanoi. They come here to buy flowers for decorating their house during Tet holiday, take photographs with their friends and record the beauty of hundreds kinds of pretty and colorful flowers.
