A cultural exchange program between Ha Noi and Japan took place in the capital city on March 19.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung believes that culture acts as a catalyst to develop bilateral cooperation, mutual understanding and to build trust between two nations and peoples.
Chairman of Japan’s Wanokai International Culture Association Sato Mitsugu said he hopes the cultural exchange program will tighten the relationship and cooperation between Japan and Viet Nam, and with Ha Noi in particular.
The opening ceremony witnessed the participation of some famous singers in Japan including Itsuwa Mayumi and the girl band Momoiro Cloverz and a drum club from Sagamihara high school.
Two hundred cherry blossom trees which were carefully selected from the southernmost prefecture of Okinawa were transferred to Ha Noi as gifts of Japan. The climate and soil in the Japanese and that of the Hanoi capital shares the same features.
The trees will be presented at Hoa Binh Park and Japany experts will take the responsiblity to care for them.
Apart from getting the chance to admire10.000 Japanese cherry flower branches, visitors to the cultural event will also enjoy many activities including a photo exhibition on Vietnamese and Japanese heritage; Vietnamese folk music like “ca tru” (ceremonial singing), “chau van” (spiritual singing) and “cheo” (traditional opera); martial arts performances; and lion dances.
