Lies on the highway 1A, just about 50 km from Hanoi center, belongs to Chuyen My commune, Ung Hoa district - a Hanoi’s suburb, the village of Boi Khe is well-known for bamboo and rattan worshipping objects and other items.
Boi Khe has a relatively long history of traditional craft, but no one knows precisely when the craft first started in the village. Local artisans only know that it has existed for a very long time and has been passed down from generation to generation.
With skill hands of artisans, lacquer products of the village are intricate, beautiful and high-qualified; thus, they are exported to different countries in the world and have won the difficult markets such as: England, German, France, America, Australia, Japan and Korea….The materials are available in the daily life and friendly with the environment such as the famous lacquer paint imported from Phu Tho. Other materials include sawdust, stone powder, clay, wood, gold, silver, egg shells, shells and snail shells. For a complete product, artisans carry out two main stages, making lacquer paint and making finished products.
