The daily Argentina’s newspaper, Pagina 12 has announced top 5 world’s imposing revolutionary squares; and Ba Dinh Square (Vietnam) is honorably among them.
In the past, Ba Dinh square was a historical witness of many remarkable events. After the August revolution success, Ho Chi Minh president declared Vietnam's independence in his The Proclamation of Independence at Ba Dinh Square. After President Ho Chi Minh's death in 1969, the Party and the State decided to build Ho Chi Minh mausoleum at Ba Dinh Square as the resting place of him.

Located on Hung Vuong Street, Ba Dinh Square is the Vietnam’s largest square, with 320m in length, 100m in width, and capacity of 20 thousand people and a flag tower of 29 high. Various national events and meetings, parades celebrating the country’s anniversary are held at this square. Every day, the flag raising and lowering ceremony are solemnly taken place at Ba Dinh Square under the formal national rites.
