The small village Bat Trang is loacated in Gia lam district, Hanoi, is about 13 kilometers south-east of Hanoi center. It takes about 20 minutes to get there by buses or motorbikes.
Bat Trang is the popular destination of many local and international tourists for its long history and high qualified ceramic and pottery products.
It is said that Bat Trang was established in 14th or 15th century. With the benefit of an ideal location which lies besides the Red river, the village has rich source of clay –the main material to create fine ceramics. From 15th century to 17th century, ceramic products were popular in both domestic and international markets. The village’s products have developed and become well known for the best quality, style and glaze. Most of its products are decorative objects such as house models, altars, statues and architectural fixtures or daily household items including bow, cup, plates, pot and bottle.
Visit Bat Trang, tourists can stroll around or join a buffalo tour for sightseeing and shopping. More impressively, many youngsters and foreign tourists have pottery- making experiences when they try their hands with some ceramics and make a gift for family or friends.
