It is estimated that 227,640 tourists came to Hanoi during the previous holiday, Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department Do Dinh Hong said.
The figure for the turnover from municipal tourism sector reached 646 billion VND, an increase of 14% compared to that of the previous year.
Particularly, in the reviewed time, there were about 44,640 international visitors enjoyed Hanoi tours, up 14% over the same period in 2015. Meanwhile, the figure for domestic tourists was estimated at 185,000 arrivals, increasing by 11% over the same period.
Ho Chi Minh Complex, Da Chong (K9) historical relic site in Ba Vi district are most-visited during the holyday. While the former is reported to attract more than 63,000 visitors, including 6,660 foreigners, the latter was visited by more than 10,500 individuals.
Other top visited places during the National Reunification Day and May Day holidays include theTemple of Literature, The Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, the Old Quarters, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple and big trade centers also attracted numerous tourists.
International visitors came mainly from the country's key markets, including Republic of Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Australia, China, UK, Germany and France.
